Health Care Assistants awarded Care Certificate

Compassionate Health Care Assistants were acknowledged for completing the Care Certificate by NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s Clinical Chair.

Dr Chris Ritchieson was on hand to award Health Care Assistants their Care Certificate badges in an awards ceremony on the Countess of Chester Health Park.

NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s clinical lead for nursing, Pauline Finlay, paid tribute to the successful Health Care Assistants.

“Today is about celebrating good care,” she said. “Good care is about more than simply providing clinical care – it’s about providing safe, compassionate care.

“Health Care Assistants are often the first point of contact for many people and the care they provide can have a huge impact on a patient’s overall experience.

“The Care Certificate acknowledges people who provide safe, compassionate care and its reach stretches across both primary and secondary care. This is a platform which will enable the successful Health Care Assistants to develop further.”

NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group successfully secured funding from Health Education England to offer the Care Certificate across West Cheshire as well as South Cheshire, East Cheshire and Vale Royal.

Introduced in 2015, the Care Certificate equips Health Care Assistants with the skills and knowledge they need to provide consistently safe and compassionate care.

Dr Ritchieson said: “In the local NHS everything we do, whether on the ‘shopfloor’ or behind the scenes, is aimed at providing better care for patients. I’m delighted to recognise the vital role Health Care Assistants play. Providing good care is not just about GPs – it’s a real team effort.”

Kim Cooper and Alison Lomas, from East Cheshire Trust, were also in attendance to acknowledge the Health Care Assistants’ achievements alongside Nicola Daniels from Primary Care Cheshire.
