West Cheshire healthcare options over Christmas and New Year
10 December 2018
A number of West Cheshire pharmacies are set to open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day – when GP practices are closed.
Six West Cheshire pharmacies are set to open on Christmas Day, 13 on Boxing Day and 12 on New Year’s Day.
Routine GP and nurse appointments will be available on all three bank holidays via the General Practice Extended Hours service. To book an Extended Hours appointment call 0300 123 7743 or speak to your GP practice receptionist.
Extended Hours appointments are also available every weekend. If you have a more pressing medical need, call NHS 111.
All West Cheshire GP practices are set to open from 8am-6.30pm on Christmas Eve and then reopen as normal on Thursday, December 27th. GP practices will also open from 8am-6:30pm on New Year’s Eve and then reopen as normal from Wednesday, January 2nd 2019.
Dr Chris Ritchieson, the Clinical Chair of NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “It is vital that a wide range of healthcare options are available for people in West Cheshire all year round – including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
“It is also worth remembering that pharmacists are expert healthcare professionals who can provide specialist advice for a wide range of health conditions, and you don’t need to book an appointment to see them.”
