Stay hydrated this summer

NHS West Cheshire CCG Annual Assessment 2017/18

In one of the hottest summers on record there are a number of simple guidelines we can all follow to keep hydrated.

Although there are no recommended guidelines for water intake, the general rule is around 6-8 glasses (1.5–2 litres) per day, on top of what comes from food naturally.

This can be a challenge, particularly for older people – especially if they are frail. People caring for older people are advised to aim for optimal hydration, even though that may not mean 6-8 glasses per day.

All fluid except alcohol counts, including water, tea, coffee, milk and fruit juice.
