The Minor Ailments Service

Around 50 million visits to the GP are made every year for minor ailments. When you are starting with a cold or have early symptoms of a minor illness, or recurring back pain, your local pharmacist should be your first port of call, and will save you time in booking an appointment to see your GP.

Your local pharmacist has medically trained staff who can recognise your condition and if your problem is more serious and needs the attention of a GP, your pharmacist will recognise this and advise you to see your GP instead.

Your pharmacist may be able to help with:

  • conjunctivitis
  • cystitis
  • impetigo
  • oral thrush in infants
